“TRANSLATOR -Daydreams-”, an art exhibition by Daisuke Mukai, MIKA, KEE FACTORY (Akihiro Yasuda, Haruka Ito, and Airi Sakai), will be held at CONTRAST from December 4th, Wednesday to December 8, Sunday. ー TRANSLATOR -Daydreams- Daydreams refer to unrealistic experiences where one perceives “dream-like images” during waking hours, as if the fantasies or imaginations were unfolding in reality. This exhibition is based on explorations and experiments inspired by the sense of wonder or discomfort felt at the “interfaces created by consciousness.” It questions whether the distinctions we unconsciously perceive and identify in our everyday lives—between reality and unreality, the logical and the illogical, the physical and the mental, the self and the other, or established societal frameworks—are truly valid or even existent. By raising these questions, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the concept of boundaries and aims to uncover unnoticed perspectives through its installations. Through moments that blur the boundaries between reality and consciousness, the exhibition seeks to create instances where viewers experience a “dream” while being awake, allowing them to feel the ambiguity of these boundaries. ー Date:12/4(Wed) - 12/8(Sun) Time:12:00 - 18:00 Venue:CONTRAST Entrance:Free

Exhibition & Order Event

Haa Jime Studio

〈Haa Jime Studio〉held the first exhibition and order event on November 30th, Saturday, and December 1st, Sunday at CONTRAST. This exhibition showcased glass lighting created in collaboration with Yoko Yamano-Andersson, a glass artist based in Sweden, as well as furniture crafted with artisans from all over Japan that embodies the strength and warmth of the materials used. The furniture was made to order and delivered upon completion. ー 〈Haa Jime Studio〉 is designed not only for personal use at home but also to withstand years of use in restaurants and other establishments. It reflects the strength of natural wood and the warmth of craftsmanship. They were founded on the foundation of Japan’s skilled artisanship to create furniture that embodies the warmth of human touch and the strength of the materials. The name “Studio” conveys both the collective efforts of all artisans involved and a sense of anonymity. This is not the work of any single person but a project shaped by many hands. Their ideal is to integrate materials, techniques, and design into pieces that, while not overly assertive, maintain a strong presence and timeless appeal. ー Exhibition: 11/30(Sat) 12:00 - 19:00 12/1(Sun) 12:00 - 17:00 Venue:CONTRAST

About CONTRAST
In 2022, CONTRAST opened as a creative space in Yoyogi-Hachiman, Tokyo. The interior, based on a 45-year-old structure, consists of three floors under the concept of "reconstruction," and is managed by IN FOCUS, a digital branding studio that operates under the theme of "We propose new perspectives through a collective pursuit of digital excellence.". The space not only serves as its own creative space but also aims to be widely open to the public, providing a space for continuous and experimental reconstruction by its users, breaking free from limitations. Focusing on various forms of expression and encountering the creators who produce them, we will come to understand the importance of "CONTRAST = comparison" in our endeavors.
