Wandering Through Forms

BuddyOptical will host its exhibition and trunk show, “Wandering Through Forms” at CONTRAST on October 9 (Fri.) and 10 (Sat.). Most things in eyewear design have already been explored, long ago. The great eyewear of the past reflects the answers that designers of each era had already found. And yet, there are times when we still want to create something new. Something that feels as though we’ve seen it somewhere before, but somehow haven’t. How can we take what we have inherited from the past, reinterpret it for the present, and bring it into the world today? Thinking about this is, in its own way, a form of respect for the work of those who came before us. Rather than making the same thing again, we want to think about what comes next. For the exhibition, BuddyOptical will present its first new models in three years, “MUMBAI” and “OSLO.” The complete BuddyOptical collection, including the latest models, will also be on view. About CONTRAST
In 2022, CONTRAST opened as a creative space in Yoyogi-Hachiman, Tokyo. The interior, based on a 45-year-old structure, consists of three floors under the concept of "reconstruction," and is managed by IN FOCUS, a digital branding studio that operates under the theme of "We propose new perspectives through a collective pursuit of digital excellence.". The space not only serves as its own creative space but also aims to be widely open to the public, providing a space for continuous and experimental reconstruction by its users, breaking free from limitations. Focusing on various forms of expression and encountering the creators who produce them, we will come to understand the importance of "CONTRAST = comparison" in our endeavors.
