CODE TO GRAPHIC
DIGRAPH
The creative studio DIGRAPH, founded by designer Hiromasa Fukaji and programmer Junichiro Horikawa, will be holding their exhibition “CODE TO GRAPHIC” at CONTRAST from Saturday, May 3 to Sunday, May 11. This exhibition explores the concept of “CODE TO GRAPHIC”—creating graphic expressions through programming, which is a hallmark of DIGRAPH’s creative process. A diverse range of works will be presented, each highlighting the unique beauty and character that emerge from various programming methods. Central to the exhibition is DIGRAPH’s signature technique, Plotter Drawing, which pushes the boundaries between digital and physical. Through this method, the artworks are imbued with subtle physical irregularities and singular textures not found in digital displays or printed media. As a new initiative, the exhibition will also feature works inspired by CTG (Computer Technique Group), a pioneering force in Japanese computer art during the 1960s. DIGRAPH finds strong resonance with CTG, who similarly broke the boundaries between art and design through the use of computers, and also employed plotter technology in their work. In this exhibition, DIGRAPH reinterprets CTG’s iconic “Kennedy Series”, creating new works that pay homage while offering a fresh perspective. More than half a century since CTG’s groundbreaking activities, DIGRAPH revisits their legacy to reflect on its own identity and position, and to propose new ways of thinking about digital creation. We invite you to experience DIGRAPH’s ever-expanding world of creativity and experimentation, where programming and graphic art intersect and evolve. − Date: 5/3(Sat) – 5/11(Sun) / Open daily Time: Weekdays 15:00–20:00 / Weekends 11:00–20:00 Entrance: Free Venue: CONTRAST
