Absences
Luigi Honorat
CONTRAST presented a solo exhibition"Absences" by Tokyo based French visual artist Luigi Honorat from March 4th, Saturday to March 19th, Sunday. Luigi was trained as a sculptor at the Musashino Art University, where he currently holds a position as a lecturer. He explores the medium of physical matter and 3DCG to search for new sculptural forms, movements, and processes. He combines and interlinks various elements such as "reality and virtuality,""object and data," and "beauty and the uncanny," to create installations, sculptures, and video works. He has worked for brands like Apple, Adidas, L'Oréal, The New York Times, as well as musicians such as Moses Sumney, Son Lux's Ian Chang, Micka Luna, Variéras, etc. In this exhibition, he presented a new series of digital sculptures in three different mediums: print, AR (augmented reality), and video. Through prints and AR, audiences could experience digital sculptures that do not exist, and also in the video work, a series of digital sculpture forms were structured, and the process of transmuting, disappearing, and dissolving the figurative bodies explores the concept of "Absences". In addition, AR marker prints were available for purchase at the venue, which could be experienced in other spaces to inquire about the relationship between space and the body.
